Valluvar Gurukulam Society is a group of educational Institutions that offers all round education to first generation students with a greater emphasis on educating the girl child.

The School was started in 1940 to educate refugee children from Burma. It is a not-for-profit group of schools situated on the arterial G.S.T. Road with plenty of tress and picturesque surroundings.

From humble beginnings, the school has blossomed into three institutions of learning educating around three thousand students. Valluvar Gurukulam addresses the educational needs of first generation students in the region, most of who are from the BPL (Below Poverty Level) category.

The objective of the institutions is to help give an opportunity to these economically deprived students to excel in life by imparting high quality academic education, cultural knowledge and sports facilities on par with those available to privileged children. The schools are equipped with good infrastructure, advanced labs, computer labs, essential amenities and good sports facilities.

The commitment and hard work of the teachers and the students has resulted in the school excelling in academics by scoring the first rank in the district in both X & XII board exams over the last five years.

Also the school places great emphasis on all-round development of the child and this focus has resulted in numerous achievements in the disciplines of sports, debates, elocution, quiz competitions, both at the state and also national level.

The school has also won a top National award – 13th rank in all India, from the Government of India for cleanliness, sanitation and ecological preservation at a ceremony in New Delhi competing against the best schools in India.

Though a school for underprivileged sections of society, the students and faculty of Valluvar Gurukulam group of schools have consistently excelled in both academic and co-curricular activities in the state, proving that if given an opportunity the desire to excel is very much a part of all of us.
